Girl's Weekend in Paso Robles

This past weekend my best friend and I decided to take a girls trip to Paso Robles for Tiffy's going away bash. It's halfway between Northern and Southern California so it was a nice middle area for al of us to meet. We did some wine tasting, watched a movie and just spent quality time together... We'll miss having Tiffy closeby, but we know that she's moving to Atlanta for a good reason... to start a new life with Berkley...

Thanksgiving Weekend in Texas

This Thanksgiving, Paul and I went to McAllen TX to be with the Morins... We had a very relaxing stay at Josie's house (Paul's mom) and got to spend some quality time with the family... including my "dog-in-law" Heidi! :) We also got to chat with Mark (Paul's brother) via webcam while he is still in Iraq. We are thankful for our family...

New Kids on the Block Concert - Oct 8, 2008

Last night, I went to the New Kids on the Block Concert at the Staples Center in Los Angeles with my friends Tiffy & Liz. It was so great to relive my childhood memories as "April McIntyre" and screaming my lungs out like I was a teenager again... along with thousands of other women in their 30's and 40's. Before the concert, I told Paul that I was going to come home without a voice because I knew I would loose it at the concert... and he clapped!!!

haha... What a great time!

Surfing in Costa Rica in August

Paul and I had a wonderful time surfing in Costa Rica. We stayed at a surf camp called Witch's Rock SUrf Camp in Tamarindo and met some great people. Paul was excellent on the board and realized his love for outdoor sports was enhanced by this experience. We will definitely be back to Costa Rica... Hopefully an even better surfer! :)

Our Highest Climb

Yesterday, Paul thought it would be agreat idea to try a new route in Glendora by our house to go riding. It was a 33.94 mile route, but had an ascent of 3,466 feet through the Los Angeles National Forest (the mountains you see in the background of Azusa). It was extremely tough because the ascent was all in one major spot in the route, so not a gradual ascent. Totally challenging, but very rewarding. We are taking it easy on Sunday! :)

Huntington Library with Friends

On Sunday, Paul & I went to the Huntington Library for the first time with our friends Ana, Karl, Little Dylan, Le, Marvin, Little Emma, Sheila, Shane and Little Sophie. We walked around the art gallery while the kids slept and then hiked through the gardens. The kids immediately woke up when they saw the ducks and koi fishes. It was a really great outing with good friends...

Sohpie Monster

My best friend Sheila sent this super cute picture of her daughter Sophie, who is such a character! She's getting SO big I can't believe it!

This past weekend...

My roomate at Notre Dame Stephanie Thompson (my bridesmaid) visited this past weekend. We spent Saturday during the day in Malibu hanging out at the beach and we had lunch at Dukes. It was a super hot day... the thermometer on our car said 102! Yikes. Then, we had dinner in Old Town Pasadena at a cute little Greek restaurant.

Sunday was a relaxing day of bonding and hanging out at the pool. :) I'm sad I had to drop her off at the airport... BUT the good news is that she will be spending more time on the west coast which means there will be more visits here to Southern California to see me! Next time I'll take her to see the tourist stuff in Hollywood since she's never really spent time in LA! :)

My First After Work Ride

My after work ride last night....that climb of almost 900ft in 2 miles was more than I was expecting....

I Tricked April into Riding the Canyons

This the ride I took April on this past weekend (4/26). I'm slowly exploring the mountains out here and it worked out to be a good first ride for April with some climbing - over 1700ft of climbing and some great downhills through the mountain valley's before reaching the ocean again. Hopefully we'll remember the camera one of these times...

Paul's First Canyon Bike Ride

This was my first canyon ride 3 wks ago... I went solo. I picked an awful one to start with, but the views were really amazing from 2000ft up. Granted, that was after 9 miles of climbing and nearly 1hr 20 minutes of riding. You could see the San Fernando Valley, Hidden Valley and the Pacific Ocean from the top....and descending at 30-40mph while holding both breaks was interesting too...

Long Beach Grand Prix

Paul and I went to Torin & Carol's condo in Long Beach to watch the Long Beach Grand Prix. The balcony of their condo was the best seats in the house. We watched the Imperial Capital Bank Atlantic Championship Race, then we saw a Green Power (solar) Prix-View (On-Track) which kind of looked like a huge roach with all the solar panels on the top of the vehicle. We got to see the parade of the drivers and they waved to us on our balconies and part of the Main Race, which was super exciting since we were located at one of the toughest turns of the race. So cool...

April's Birthday Weekend with the Girls

My best friends Saghi, Jackie & Tiffy spent the weekend at my house this past weekend to celebrate the big 3-0 for me. I couldn't have asked for a better weekend on my birthday since they had to do everything that made me happy and they TOTALLY delivered! :) We ate, did Bikram yoga, ate some more, got our nails done, did at-home facials (we looked like smurfs), ate some more, went shopping and ate even more! PERFECT! Thanks you for an amazing time! Above are pictures of the whole gang at Sushi Roku in Pasadena. I love sushi!

April's 30th Birthday

I finally turned the big 3-0 on April 6th. Paul treated my like a princess with many thoughtful surprises and it was a wonderful birthday. Paul & I spent a day with my parents at the Santa Anita Racetrack and we actually had a really great time betting on horses because they had a cool name or were wearing colors we liked! :) That didn't prove to be the best strategy as wel ended up losing $13 total that day. haha...

I'm Famous! Happy Birthday Tiffy!

It's my best friend Tiffy's Bday today yeah! It's not an April Fool's joke... it's really her bday! Happy Birthday my dear!

Anyway, I wanted to put out another plug to Tiffy's Entrepreneur spirit and promote her women's golf apparel company. There's a recent article on womenoncourse.com discussing "what to wear on the course" and there's a picture of me in the article! hehe... Check out the article... http://www.womenoncourse.com/newsletter_april.php

My Godson Dylan Bui

Yesterday, I became the official GODMOTHER of Dylan Bui, son of Ana Liza (my longest trusting friendship--we go way back to high school) & her husband Karl. It was such a wonderful Christening and welcoming into the Catholic Church. After the baptism at church, we went over to Ana's parent's house to have the typical Filipino lunch... TONS OF FOOD and karaoke... hehe... It was extremely apparent that Dylan is very loved to have so many people who adore and care for him. I myself am blessed and honored that Ana Liza trusts me to guide her son and enter his life as "family" and as his GODMOTHER. This is a very special bond that Ana Liza and I now share...

Paul's a Movie Star!!!

Sony offers free movie screenings for Sony Employees & their guests. Yesterday, Sony was showing the movie "Cloverfield" on the lot, so Paul drove after work to meet me at my work and we walked over to the screening room. Paul was able to meet my wonderful new Sony co-workers Rick (my boss), Scott & Dave for the first time. Today, during lunch, Rick asked "So what movie star does Paul look like?" Rick swore that Paul looked like Skeet Ulrich (http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0000240/mediaindex)! I told Paul that and he said that other people had already told him that in the past! :) I'M MARRIED TO A MOVIE STAR!!!

President's Day Holiday

Paul & I both got President's Day off yesterday. We were slightly motivated to get outdoors. So we headed to a place close to home called Santa Fe Dam and rode our bikes along the bike path there. For being so close to home, it was surprisingly nice and we stated that we would return there to go biking if we get to lazy to drive to Malibu. After our bike ride, we put our bikes into the car and did a real quick and super easy jog just to get used to the motion of getting from biking to running. Paul was definitely more ambitious than me... hehe... :) Here are some pics that Paul took on our camera.

Our 2nd Long Bike Ride Down Pacific Coast Hwy

On Saturday (2/16), Paul and I did another round of bike riding with the Los Angeles Triathlon Club. I went 40 miles and Paul went 49 miles. The long trip was definitely exhausting, but extremely rewarding. My 40-mile round trip bike ride started at Zuma Beach (Malibu) for 20 miles along a spectacular ocean view to S Las Posas Road and then 20 miles back to Zuma Beach. I rode with two girls (Debbie & Summer) who are training for a Tirathlon in March and Paul went with 3 others a little further. It was nice.

After the ride, Paul and I headed to Malibu Seafood and had the best Ahi Tuna Burger that I had ever tasted. (It was probably that tasty since we were super hungry after our long ride)...
